After threat, Karnataka gives Y-security to hijab case judges | India News

BENGALURU: Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday said he has asked the director general of police to provide ‘Y’-category security to the three Karnataka HC judges, including chief justice Ritu Raj Awasthi, who heard the hijab case after a death threat issued through a WhatsApp message against two judges was traced to Tamil Nadu.
He said the government has taken note of the issue and directed police to initiate a probe based on an FIR filed with Vidhana Soudha police station by the Bar Association of Karnataka on Saturday. “I’ve spoken to the DGP. The government will not tolerate divisive forces trying to negate the rule of law and attempting to incite people,” he said, adding he has directed Karnataka police to coordinate with their TN counterparts to apprehend those behind the threat.
