Attacker allegedly swipes man’s bag, pummels him in NYC station


A straphanger had his bag stolen, then was beaten by the thief at a Bronx train station over the weekend, authorities said.

The 30-year-old victim was in the 2 and 5 train station at Freeman Street and Southern Boulevard just after 10 a.m. Saturday when another man approached just as a train pulled in and snatched the white bag he was carrying, cops said. 

The victim followed the suspect and got into a dispute — which escalated when the man punched him multiple times in the face and head, causing severe bleeding, authorities said. 

The victim suffered facial fractures and was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition. 

The suspect, who fled, is shown in surveillance footage released by cops early Tuesday.
