NEW DELHI: After dipping to nearly 31,000 mark on August 31, India’s daily Covid-19 infections continued to remain above 40,000-mark for the fourth day in a row. As many as 42,618 people on Friday tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours.
With this, the country’s overall Coronavirus tally has jumped to 3.29 crore, according to the Union health ministry’s data released at 9am. At 29,322, Kerala accounted for the highest number of cases reported in the last 24 hours.

The death toll in the country has further climbed to 4.40 lakh, with 330 more people succumbing to the deadly virus in last 24 hours.

The active cases rose by 5,903 during the last 24 hours. The current active caseload stands at 4.05 lakh, accounting for 1.23 per cent of the total infections.
