Several unconfirmed reports state that stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Farah Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who were supposed to attend Deepika and Ranveer’s wedding, will skip the ceremony.

Strict Wedding Photos Policy

Security measures at the event locations have been compared to that provided for world leaders, with drone interceptors in the sky and guests being made to wear special wrist bands and scan unique QR codes on their phones to gain entry. Of course, pictures have been hard to come by.

According to reports, guests were made to wear a special wrist band and cover up the camera lenses on their mobile phones with stickers. Boats were also made to patrol the lake to keep away eager photographers and gossip hunters.

The festivities began with the ring ceremony, followed by the sangeet and mehendi ceremonies. Turns out the pre-wedding ceremonies were as grand as the ones to follow. The guests seemed to be in a celebratory mood and the couple was happy as ever and shared quite a few aww-worthy moments. According to a report in Bollywood Life, one of the guests revealed a super cute mmoment between the two during the mehendi ceremony.

Sabyasachi Mukherjee, the famous designer who has designed Ranveer and Deepika’s wedding trousseau is also present at the wedding venue.

He is personally looking after all the details of the outfits the bride and groom will be wearing on all the functions.

Mehendi Ceremony

On Tuesday, the report added, two more ceremonies were held—mehendi in the morning and sangeet in the evening.

Ranveer’s ceremony took place at the CastaDiva Resort, overlooking Lake Como while Deepika’s function took place at Villa d’Este, which is about five kilometers away.

Singers Harshdeep Kaur and Shubha Mudgal sang songs during the mehendi. While Harshdeep traditional mehendi songs, Shubha joined in with Thumri songs. However, film songs were also played. Ranveer reportedly made a dramatic entry, dancing to his song, Tune Maari Entriyan (Gunday) while Harshdeep sang a number of sings such as Mehndi Ni Mehndi, Dholak, Kala Shah Kala, Mehendi Hai Rachney Wali.

Sangeet Ceremony

Being his usual romantic self, Ranveer went down on his knees as he slipped the engagement ring on Deepika’s finger. A source present at the wedding revealed that the Padmaavat actor even gave an emotional speech leaving his lady-love in tears. Following the engagement ceremony, the couple immersed themselves in the wedding revelry and danced their heart out.

Deepika and Ranveer colour-coordinated their clothes. Both wore Sabyasachi creations (he is reportedly at the venue) in shades of pink and red. Through the ceremonies, Deepika was reportedly seen tearing up even as Ranveer comforted her. Pinkvilla , quoting a guest, said: “Shubha Mudgal was performing a thumri when Deepika Padukone got emotional and was in tears. When she broke down, Ranveer, who could understand her emotional state, walked up to her and hugged her tight and consoled his lady love. He ensured she was smiling again with all his crazy love antics.”

For today’s Konkani wedding, Deepika is reportedly wearing a traditional white and gold silk saree by Sabyasachi, while Ranveer has opted for a kanjeevaram sherwani. For the Sindhi wedding, Deepika will don a red, heavily embroidered lehenga.

Post that, the couple will throw a lavish reception party for their friends from Bollywood at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai on November 28.

The couple has asked the guests at their Mumbai reception to not bring any wedding presents for them but become a part of a larger cause instead. They have asked them to make donations to Deepika’s non-profit organisation The Live Love Laugh Foundation, which aims to create awareness about mental illnesses and reduce the stigma surrounding them.
