Porbandar assembly constituency which falls in Rajkot district, promises to be a battle between Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Jeevan Jungi, Arjunbhai Devabhai Modhwadia of Congress, and BJP’s Babubhai Bhimabhai Bokhiriya. Jivanbhai Jungi, the president of Porbandar Fishing Boats Association, joined AAP just months before the state Assembly polls, after being impressed by the ideals and work of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
A native of Porbandar, Jungi is a noted leader of the fishing community, known for his efforts in bringing back fishermen caught by Pakistan authorities from the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL). He was also praised for his humanitarian work during the pandemic, when he arranged the cremation of 53 people who died of Covid-19
