NEW DELHI: In next 10 years, a lot of India’s security concerns will be addressed and the northeast will be the engine of growth for India, said Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma during his conversation at the Times Now Summit 2022 on Thursday.

Speaking about the efforts of the Centre for “mainstreaming of the northeast,” Sarma said: “The concerted effort of the Modi government towards development of the north-east region is a gigantic effort. In 1962 Chinese entered India. India couldn’t respond because India doesn’t have a good road to the frontier. But today there is a highway. Second highway is under construction. All the north-eastern states are connected with Rajdhani Express, all states have one or more airports.
