SRINAGAR: The sudden rise in the number of terror incidents in the Kashmir valley forced the Jammu and Kashmir administration on Thursday to effect a major reshuffle of police officers.
The J&K home department ordered transfers and postings of 27 IPS police officers on Thursday in the interest of the administration with immediate effect. The police brass were not satisfied with the working of various district police chiefs because there were reports of rampant corruption amongst station house officers (SHOs), of Srinagar district in particular. Also, the SHOs had failed to gather human intelligence about the presence of terrorists in their respective areas, intelligence sources said.
