The Third Edition of Japan- India Maritime Exercise (JIMEX) commenced at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. JIMEX- 18 is aimed to enhance interoperability, improve understanding and imbibe best practices between navies of two countries.

JIMEX 18 spreads over eight days, 7th October- 15th October, 18. It comprises of Harbour Phase and Sea Phase for four days each. Harbour Phase will include social and professional interactions between ship’s crews, operational planning for sea phase and sports fixtures.

Sea Phase will include anti- submarine warfare exercises, gun firings, VBSS( Visit, Board, Search and Seizure) drills, cross deck operations and coordinated operations in anti- submarine and anti- air threat scenarios.

India and Japan maritime exercise JIMEX was started in January 2012 with special focus on maritime security cooperation.
