NEW DELHI: Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari‘s controversial comments about Marathi icon Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj have kicked up a political storm in the state, with former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray now demanding his recall.
Thackeray on Thursday described Koshyari as an “Amazon parcel from the Centre” who must be “taken back.”
“I request the central Government to take back the Amazon parcel which they have sent in form of the governor,” he said.
Koshyari had stirred up a controversy on Saturday when he said Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was an icon of “olden days.” The governor also referred to Babasaheb Ambedkar and Union minister Nitin Gadkari while talking about “icons” in the state.
