National Science Conclave: Centre to collaborate with states to solve local problems through S&T applications | India News

NEW DELHI: The Centre will next week start a series of meetings with states for collaborating on ‘solution-based’ approaches to deal with identified problems, using science, technology and innovation (STI) as tools in local governance. Subsequently, a ‘National Science Conclave’, involving science ministries from the Centre and all states/ UTs, will be held to deliberate upon pressing problems facing the country and effective solutions for the same.
Idea of such center-state collaboration will be to work on integrated theme based projects instead of a particular ministry-based or department-based project. The template of such collaboration will be similar to how the UT of Jammu & Kashmir is being assisted through the latest snow clearing technology, and Puducherry and Tamil Nadu are being assisted in restoration and renovation of sea beaches through scientific interventions.
