NEW DELHI: Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has allied with Samajwadi Party for the upcoming UP assembly elections. Just days back, Pawar had dropped a hint of allying with SP for the UP polls.
Confirming the alliance, NCP leader Nawab Malik said the party has been confirmed candidature on one seat, while talks are on for some more seats.
Malik’s statement come just a day after UP NCP president Umashankar Yadav on Wednesday met Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. Soon after, SP tweeted from its handle that NCP leader KK Sharma will be the alliance candidate from Anupshahar assembly seat of Bulandshahr.
The tie-up is likely to remain in place for the Goa elections as well. Just days back, Pawar had also said that NCP is considering allying with like minded parties in Goa, which also goes to polls together with UP.
