Resolution committing to focus on ‘holistic development’ in villages adopted by 21 central ministries | India News

NEW DELHI: With nearly 68% of India being rural, 21 central ministries led by the ministry of panchayati raj on Sunday adopted a resolution committing to focus on holistic development in villages towards advancing the 2030 agenda for achieving the 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs). The focus will be on “localisation of SDGs in panchayats” to meet the 169 targets adopted by United Nations members including India at the UN sustainable Development Summit in 2015.
Under the roadmap, 17 SDGs have been subsumed under nine themes the aim to make villages poverty-free, healthy, child-friendly, water-sufficient, clean and green, self-sufficient infrastructure, good governance, socially secure and women-friendly.
