NAGPUR: Reiterating that freedom fighter Vinayak Savarkar had helped British, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said he betrayed other freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Patel.
While interacting with the media at Balapur in Akola district, he read out a letter written by Savarkar to British where he sought their apology stating “I beg to remain your most obedient servent”.


Accompanied by senior leaders like Jairam Ramesh, MPCC president Nana Patole, former minister Balasaheb Thorat, party’s Maharashtra in-charge HK Bhagat and senior journalist Kumar Ketkar, the Wayanad MP asked Maharashtra deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis to read Savarkar’s letter. He said a copy should be sent to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat too.
