Heavyweights ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries, Larsen & Tourbo, HDFC Bank and Hindustan Unilever contributed the most to the advances on the Sensex.
Domestic stock markets started Tuesday’s session on a higher note amid unabated buying by foreign investors and strong global cues. The S&P BSE Sensex rose as much as 352.96 points to touch 37,407.06, while the Nifty50 barometer of the National Stock Exchange surged by 102.5 points to hit 11,270.5. The gains on Dalal Street were led by buying in energy, banking and metal stocks. Heavyweights ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries, Larsen & Tourbo, HDFC Bank and Hindustan Unilever contributed the most to the advances on the Sensex.
At 9:57 am, the 30-share benchmark index traded 319.55 points or 0.86 per cent higher at 37,373.65, and the Nifty was at 11,259.65, up 91.60 points or 0.82 per cent from the previous close.
Top advancers on the 50-scrip index were Power Grid, ICICI Bank, Larsen & Tourbo, Hindalco and Titan, trading between 2.10 and 2.93 per cent higher.
The Nifty energy index was trading 1.22 per cent higher at that time.
on monday, the S&P BSE Sensex rose 1.04 per cent or 383 points to close at 37,054 and the NSE Nifty 50 Index climbed 1.2 per cent or 133 points to settle at 11,168.
