NEW DELHI: To give a 80-year-old woman some peace in the evening of her life, the Supreme Court on Thursday asked the estranged daughter-in-law to shift out of her mother-in-law’s Vile Parle house in Mumbai but ensured that she got a roof over her head in Lonavala.
The octogenarian, her son and latter’s estranged wife appeared through video conference before a vacation bench of Justices Ajay Rastogi and B V Nagarathna. The widowed mother-in-law accused the daughter-in-law of harassment and pleaded for a peaceful stay in her Vile Parle West House in Mumbai. She said “bahu mera ghar pura khalas kar diya hai (the daughter-in-law has ruined my house)”.
The daugher-in-law said she endured the severe torture and harassment for 22 years in marriage, but could not take it lying down when the in-laws attempted to damage her two sons, who have settled abroad and done exceptionally well…
