NEW DELHI: If exit polls suggesting a repeat of the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in Uttar Pradesh turn out to be true on March 10, the day the results will be declared, a dubious jinx that has been part of the state’s political folklore may finally be laid to rest.
The ‘Noida jinx’ as it is known, is linked to the upwardly mobile town on Delhi’s eastern border, which some believe can prove inauspicious to the sitting chief ministers.
The political superstition has stuck to the city for quite long that any serving chief minister who visits Noida suffers electoral losses in the polls later. However, Yogi Adityanath has not paid much heed to the so-called Noida jinx and has made multiple visits to the town.
In January this year, Yogi Adityanath visited the area and also brushed aside the superstition.
