Who could be Vijay Rupani’s successor in Gujarat? | India News

NEW DELHI: Vijay Rupani‘s resignation as Gujarat chief minister came without a whiff. It is still not clear if it is a sudden development, or a planned move by the BJP.
The next point of interest- who could be Rupani’s successor? Quite a few names are in the reckoning:
Nitin Patel
Nitin Patel is the incumbent deputy chief minister. An old hand, he first entered the assembly in 1990.
He was first picked as a minister in 1995. He has held portfolios like health and family welfare, agriculture, irrigation, roads and buildings, finance and revenue, water resources and urban development and urban housing.
Mansukh Mandaviya
The incumbent Union health minister was elected to the Gujarat assembly as the youngest member in 2002.
He was associated with the ABVP and also served as the BJP chief of its Palitana district unit.
